I do laugh at some posters on here. In January we were certainties to go down and now Champion league contenders.

Thing is you have to dream of course they can always fade and die! But you have to enjoy the hype when it happens and the good spells, because they are bloody rare.

Yes, top four is possible, based on a fair few ifs. If we keep up our good form, and the others can't get their form, then we will be top 4. Sounds unbelievable, but it is so.

Normally, i would agree, that the europa league could do more harm than good, but I would take it this time just to have some european nights at the Boleyn Ground in her last season. A fitting send off.

I didn't predict we will come 4th I said it is quite possible. In all likeihood we will finish below that, but if he can keep the team injury free, and keep them focused it is possible just like everton did it one year. And they had a tiny squad.

Aside from whether we can get into it, that whole competition needs a shake up, with far less group games.
Most of the clubs who get in it, apart from the ones who are in leagues dominated by a couple clubs, and aren't stretched in their own domestic leagues, i.e. The Ukraine....
Then the competition is designed in such a way, that if most teams went out with real intent to win it AND still compete well in their own leagues, they would need strength and depth in their squads, nearing the breaking of the financial fair play rules.
Effectively they've set up these rules, whilst running a competition in such a way, that it pretty much encourages breaking them.

If a top 4 team wins the league cup then 6th will qualify for Europa league as what hapepned last year with City.
If two top 4 teams play in the FA cup final then I guess 7th also can be claimed.

I really think the Europa league is a two bob competition, and wouldn't want us to waste energy on this.
I actually thnk if Fat Sam keep players' feet on the ground we could do an everton and get 4th spot this year! :)

Does 6th get you a Europa league berth? I thought it was 5th and FA/Capital one cup winners or finalists?
It is, but then the league gets an extra place if the League Cup winners finish top 4
and another if the FA Cup final is between 2 top 4 teams
so 5th is guaranteed but it COULD be 7th
personally I still think a bit of a stretch for us this year
